Pundit delivers glowing verdict on reported Man United target lined up to replace Luke Shaw
Pat Nevin has delivered a glowing verdict on reported Manchester United target Kieran Tierney after a good season at Celtic
Pat Nevin has talked up Celtic defender Kieran Tierney amid reports that Manchester United want to sign the Scottish teenager as Luke Shaw’s replacement.
The Daily Mirror reported on Monday that Jose Mourinho wants to bring in the Celtic star to replace Shaw after a disappointing season for the England international under the new Manchester United manager.
The Red Devils boss has been outspoken in his criticism of the Manchester United left-back despite the former Southampton man being rated as one of England’s brightest prospects.
Tierney has been ever-present in Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic side in the 2016-17 season as the Glasgow club eased to the Scottish Premier League title.
Former Chelsea and Scotland midfielder Nevin made a bold claim about Tierney amid interest from the Premier League leaders and Manchester United.
“If you can keep Tierney for a little while longer that would be brilliant. I honestly think he waltzes into any team in the Premier League,” Nevin told Newstalk’s Off The Ball podcast.
Tierney has made 18 appearances in the SPL in the 2016-17 season.
Manchester United are in sixth place in the Premier League table.
The Red Devils signed four players in the summer transfer window last year.
