Jamie Carragher believes the only thing holding Tottenham Hotspur back is their inability to beat their closest rivals.

Tottenham have closed the gap to four points on Premier League leaders Chelsea thanks to a 4-0 win against Bournemouth at White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoon.

Chelsea failed to restore their seven-point cushion on Sunday when Manchester United eased to a 2-0 victory over the Premier League leaders at Old Trafford.

The Blues will take on Mauricio Pochettino’s side in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley at the weekend as both London clubs look to secure some silverware.

The west London outfit will host Southampton in their next Premier League game on Tuesday 26 April before Tottenham make the trip to Crystal Palace on Wednesday 27 April.

Speaking on Monday Night Football about why Tottenham aren’t closer to Chelsea in the Premier League title race, former Liverpool defender Carragher said:

“The one thing that lets Tottenham down is the big games. The big moments to go and win a league or maybe an FA Cup. Can they go and beat Chelsea next week in a semi-final and get that real big moment?”
