Ian Wright urges Tottenham to sign striker to play with Harry Kane
The former Arsenal striker believes Jay Rodriguez would be a good signing for Tottenham Hotspur
Ian Wright has suggested that Tottenham Hotspur should look to sign Jay Rodriguez from Southampton in the summer transfer window.
Tottenham are in second place in the Premier League table and seven points behind current leaders Chelsea with eight games to go in the 2016-17 season.
The north London side were 2-0 winners against Burnley at Turf Moor last weekend before coming from behind to secure a 3-1 victory over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Lilywhites will welcome Watford to White Hart Lane in Saturday’s early kick-off as the Hornets look to maintain a two-game winning run which includes a victory over West Brom last time out.
Tottenham have been linked with a move for Rodriguez in the past following the appointment of the forward’s former manager Mauricio Pochettino as Spurs boss.
Speaking to Sun Goals podcast about potential signings for Tottenham to provide cover for Kane, Wright suggested that Rodriguez would be a good signing.
“Rodriguez in a Tottenham team without Kane would be perfect,” Wright said.
Tottenham are in second place in the Premier League table and seven points adrift of leaders Chelsea.
The Lilywhites finished in third spot last term and 11 points adrift of eventual champions Leicester City.
