Lee Dixon reacts to Marcus Rashford’s goal in Man United’s 2-0 win over Chelsea
The former Arsenal defender heaps praise on Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford for his opening goal
Lee Dixon praised Marcus Rashford for his clinical finish in Manchester United’s 2-0 win against Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Jose Mourinho placed his faith in the England international after the Manchester United manager started the striker ahead of their top goal-scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
And Rashford was quick to repay Mourinho’s faith with the opening goal after Ander Herrera intercepted Nemanja Matic’s pass and set Rashford free with Asmir Begovic to beat.
The Manchester United forward, who ended his long goal drought in the Premier League at Sunderland last weekend, slotted his finish past Begovic in the seventh minute.
And former Arsenal defender Dixon was impressed with Rashford’s finish as Manchester United eased to a 2-0 win against the Premier League leaders at Old Trafford.
“When you give Marcus Rashford that space he will punish you,” Dixon told NBCSN.
“It’s a beautiful ball from Herrera. Rashford’s second touch takes the ball away from the defender. It was a great little finish.”
Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera doubled the home side’s lead to secure three points and close the gap on fourth-placed Manchester City to four points.
The Red Devils will host Anderlecht in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final on Thursday.
