Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Liverpool have already held productive talks with some of their summer transfer targets as the German looks to bolster his squad ahead of next season.

The Reds are bound to be linked with a host of players in the coming weeks and months as the summer transfer window draws ever nearer.

Liverpool will be hoping to be able to use the lure of Champions League football to attract some big-name players to Anfield this summer.

The Merseyside outfit are currently in third place in the Premier League table as they chase a top-four finish in Klopp’s first full campaign in charge at the club.

And the German coach feels that Liverpool is proving to be a very attractive proposition for players ahead of the summer transfer window.

Klopp sold Sky Sports: “Liverpool at this moment is a really interesting project for players.

“It’s a young team, it’s a fantastic club, and it’s a good situation where we really can see the progress. So I would say together with Tottenham, the average age of the team is such that there’s still a lot to come.

“[Tottenham] are obviously a few steps ahead, but they have played longer together. We feel in a good way, and if a player wants to be part of this way, then it’s easier to make this decision this year than last year.

“But actually, not a lot of players told me last year, ‘I don’t want to be part of this, but let me see what happens next year and then we can talk again’.

“It’s more my feeling than what a player thinks. But the talks we’ve had so far are very positive. That doesn’t mean it will all work out, but they all see the progress.”

Liverpool are currently preparing to host Crystal Palace at Anfield on Sunday afternoon as they look to take a step closer towards Champions League qualification with victory.
