Liverpool were 1-0 winners over West Brom at The Hawthorns on Sunday afternoon as Jurgen Klopp’s side kept up their chase of a Champions League qualification spot.
However, Mourinho watched his Manchester United side respond in style when they wrapped up an impressive 2-0 win over Premier League leaders Chelsea immediately after to move back up into fifth place in the table.
And speaking after the game, Mourinho admitted that Liverpool had cranked up the pressure on his side along with Manchester City, who had beaten Southampton 3-0 on Saturday.
Mourinho told Sky Sports: “I am really happy with the team and the results, because the Manchester City and Liverpool results left us in the position of needing to win.
“Not even a draw would be a good result for us, so I am really happy for the boys and for us because we keep two windows open to try to play Champions League football.”
