Danny Higginbotham believes that Simon Mignolet deserves credit for his recent upturn in form for Liverpool.

The Belgian goalkeeper attracted some criticism earlier in the season and has had to battle with summer signing Loris Karius for a place in the Liverpool team this term.

However, the shot-stopper has been in inspired form in recent weeks and produced a number of key saves as Liverpool secured a 1-0 win over West Brom on Sunday to keep their top-four hunt on track.

And former Stoke City defender Higginbotham feels that Mignolet deserves praise for the way he has stepped his game up in recent weeks.

Higginbotham wrote in The Sun: “Simon Mignolet has produced huge saves recently to secure wins for Liverpool over West Brom and Stoke.

“The Belgian goalkeeper has had stick in the past but credit where credit is due.

“It’s down to Mignolet they have collected maximum points in their last two games and not just one or even none.”

Mignolet will be hoping to feature for Liverpool once again when the Reds return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon with a home clash against Crystal Palace at Anfield.

The Reds are currently in third place in the Premier League table as they chase Champions League qualification in Jurgen Klopp’s first full season at the club.
