Paul Merson believes Liverpool will cement their place in the top four thanks to a 3-1 win against Bournemouth at Anfield on Wednesday night.

The Reds have been in excellent form in recent weeks thanks to Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mane who have been amongst the goals.

Liverpool were 3-1 winners against Everton in the Merseyside derby on Saturday afternoon thanks to goals from Mane, Coutinho and Divock Origi.

In fact, Jurgen Klopp’s side have won three of their last four games at Anfield by a two-goal margin to bolster their top-four bid.

Liverpool are in third place in the Premier League table and six points clear of fifth-placed Manchester United.

Bournemouth, on the other hand, have failed to win their last five games on the road in the Premier League.

Writing in his Sky Sports column ahead of Liverpool’s clash against Bournemouth, former Arsenal midfielder Merson backed Coutinho to inspire Klopp’s men to three points.

“Liverpool struggle against the lesser teams at home, but if they can win this, back-to-back wins, they’ll cement their place in the top four,” Merson said.

“Philippe Coutinho is back in form, and he looked superb on Saturday against Everton. He’s the key to them against these sides near the bottom of the table.”
