Michael Owen states his prediction for Liverpool v Crystal Palace
Michael Owen looks ahead to Liverpool's home clash against Crystal Palace at Anfield on Sunday
Michael Owen is fully expecting to see Liverpool take another step towards a top-four finish by beating Crystal Palace comfortably at Anfield on Sunday.
The Reds head into the game on the back of their battling 1-0 win over West Brom last weekend as Jurgen Klopp’s men kept their European pursuit on track.
Liverpool are third in the table heading into this weekend’s round of fixtures as they chase Champions League qualification in Klopp’s first full season in charge at Anfield.
And former Liverpool striker Owen cannot see past anything but a win for the Reds in front of their home fans against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.
Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “The Reds are often prone to slipping-up in home games where they are overwhelming favourites but they should edge out a Palace side that have transformed under new boss Sam Allardyce.
“The Eagles narrowly failed in their attempt to make it five wins on the bounce when drawing 2-2 with Leicester last weekend, and it will be fascinating to see if former Reds striker Christian Benteke can continue his fine run of form in front of goal back at Anfield.”
Liverpool ended up eighth in the Premier League and without a trophy last season despite them reaching the Europa League and EFL Cup finals under Klopp.
The Reds brought Klopp in as Brendan Rodgers’ permanent successor at Anfield back in October 2015.
