Jamie Redknapp believes the momentum is with Manchester United ahead of their derby clash at Manchester City on Thursday night.

The Red Devils eased to a 2-0 win against Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday afternoon after Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney scored in the first half.

Manchester United moved to within a point of fourth-placed Manchester City thanks to their comfortable victory over Sean Dyche’s side at Turf Moor.

Pep Guardiola’s side lost 2-1 in extra-time to Arsenal to end Manchester City’s chances of ending the 2016-17 season with some silverware.

The Citizens were 2-1 winners against Manchester United in the derby at Old Trafford back in September thanks to goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Kelechi Iheanacho.

Former Liverpool and Tottenham midfielder Redknapp is tipping Jose Mourinho and his Manchester United players to come out on top in Thursday night’s derby at Etihad Stadium.

“Thursday night’s Manchester derby is a shootout for the top four — and momentum is firmly with United after City’s FA Cup semi-final defeat,” Redknapp told the Daily Mail.

“United may have their injury problems but will be brimming with confidence after a good display at Burnley. City’s defenders will be petrified of Marcus Rashford, who settled this game last year and is in fine form.

“If City lose, this will be Pep Guardiola’s biggest test yet.”
