Ander Herrera states his prediction for Man City v Man United
The Manchester United midfielder predicts an exciting game between the derby rivals at Manchester City on Thursday night
Ander Herrera is confident Manchester United can come out on top in their massive Premier League game against Manchester City on Thursday night.
The Spain international was rested for Manchester United’s 2-0 win against Burnley at Turf Moor thanks to goals from Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney.
Herrera was named man of the match in Manchester United’s 2-0 victory over Premier League leaders Chelsea at Old Trafford earlier this month.
The defensive midfielder teed up Marcus Rashford for the opener against the Blues before Herrera scored a rare goal with a deflected strike.
Manchester United have moved to within a point of Manchester City thanks to successive Premier League victories in the top-four race.
Jose Mourinho’s side will make the short trip to the Etihad Stadium on Thursday night in search of three points.
Speaking to Manchester United’s website about the derby, the Spain international warned his team-mates that there will be no margin for error.
“It’s going to be the game of the season,” Herrera said.
“We are one point behind them and if we win, we have the chance to finish in the top four, but if they win, it will be very difficult for us. I don’t know the ‘winner takes all’ expression but it’s going to be a massive game. If one of us wins it, we are not going to lose a lot of games or make mistakes after that.
“It will be key. We are in a very good moment, on a very good run and we respect them, but we are doing a lot of good things and we have to show it on Thursday.”
Herrera has scored two goals and has made seven assists in 41 games in all competitions this season.
