Rio Ferdinand claimed that Jose Mourinho will be losing sleep over Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s wasteful finishing after Everton drew 1-1 with Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Ibrahimovic returned to Manchester United’s starting line-up for the visit of Everton on Tuesday night after serving a three-game suspension for violent conduct.

However, the former Sweden international failed to get on the score sheet as the 35-year-old wasted a number of opportunities in front of their home supporters.

In fact, Ibrahimovic has now missed 18 clear cut chances which is more than any other striker in the Premier League despite scoring 15 times in 27 games.

Everton opened the scoring in the first half thanks to Phil Jagielka’s close-range finish after Ashley Williams had nodded the ball into his fellow centre-half’s path.

Ibrahimovic did rescue his blushes with a late penalty to rescue a point against Everton after Ashley Williams was dismissed for a handball.

Former Manchester United defender Ferdinand felt that Ibrahimovic’s wasteful performance up front against Everton at Old Trafford.

“Jose Mourinho will be losing sleep over this,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.

“Opportunities coming to your main man and not being able to take them. It’s a perfect time to get a foothold in the game and put this Everton side to sleep. It has happened far too many times this season.”

Ibrahimovic moved to Manchester United from Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in last summer’s transfer window.
