Gary Neville reacts to Man United’s 2-0 win at Burnley
Gary Neville has his say on Manchester United's display in their 2-0 win over Burnley on Sunday afternoon
Gary Neville praised Manchester United’s display of ruthless counter-attacking play during Sunday’s 2-0 win at Burnley in the Premier League.
With Zlatan Ibrahimovic out injured, Jose Mourinho opted to start with both Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney up front for the Red Devils.
Martial repaid his manager’s faith in him when the France striker finished off a blistering counter-attack from the visiting team in the 21st minute at Turf Moor.
And Rooney also found the net in the 39th minute for Mourinho’s men to hand Manchester United a welcome boost in the race for a top-four finish.
Speaking about Martial’s opening goal during Sky Sports‘ coverage of the game, Neville said: “Zlatan Ibrahimovic is injured and this is what you’re going to get without him.
“It was a counter-attack through the centre-forward Anthony Martial, last week it was Marcus Rashford.
“It was devastating – and far more like Manchester United have always played. Martial finishes it really well.”
Sunday’s win lifted Manchester United up to with just a point of fourth-placed Manchester City as the race for Champions League qualification hots up.
The Red Devils take on their bitter local rivals Manchester City in their next Premier League game on Thursday night at The Etihad.
