Paul Scholes: Chelsea’s David Luiz was terrified of this Man United star
Paul Scholes says Chelsea's defenders were scared of Marcus Rashford's pace during last weekend's clash at Manchester United
Paul Scholes has claimed that Marcus Rashford frightened David Luiz and N’Golo Kante with his pace during Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Chelsea last weekend.
Rashford earned plenty of praise as he scored the opening goal and put in a fine display to help Jose Mourinho’s men wrap up victory against the Premier League leaders at Old Trafford.
The 19-year-old was a constant threat for the home side against Chelsea and continued his fine form with the winner in Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Anderlecht in the Europa League on Thursday night.
And former Manchester United midfielder Scholes has claimed that Rashford terrorised the Chelsea defence with his brilliant play on Sunday.
Speaking on BT Sport on Thursday night, Scholes said: “Sunday was the template for what Manchester United need in big games. Not just in the forward areas, but everywhere on the pitch.
“The intensity, the possession, there was a speed about it. They were scared of Rashford’s pace, Luiz, Kante were trying to get back at him. He has such ability.”
Rashford will be hoping to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon with a trip to Turf Moor to take on Burnley.
The Red Devils head into this weekend’s round of games in fifth place in the Premier League table.
