Frank Lampard says Manchester United deserve credit for their impressive performance in their 2-0 win over Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Red Devils thoroughly outplayed the Premier League leaders in front of their home fans as Jose Mourinho’s men blew the title race wide open with victory at Old Trafford.

Goals from Marcus Rashford and Ander Herrera wrapped up the three points for Mourinho’s side and gave Tottenham Hotspur hope of catching Chelsea in the race for the title, leaving them four points ahead of the Lilywhites with six games left to play.

Chelsea have been the Premier League’s dominant team all season but the Blues struggled to cope with an energetic Manchester United display at Old Trafford.

And Lampard had no choice but to concede that Manchester United were the worthy winners of Sunday’s showdown.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, Lampard said: “They [Chelsea] weren’t there today at all. That wasn’t the Chelsea that we know.

“Credit to Manchester United, they came out of the blocks and were first to every ball.

“Everything seemed to drop to United and that wasn’t luck, that was because they were sharper than the Chelsea players.”
