Jamie Carragher believes that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been the signing of the season in the Premier League following his sparkling form for Manchester United.

The striker arrived at Old Trafford on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain last summer but there were plenty of question marks about whether he would be able to adapt to the rigours of English football so late in his career.

However, the 35-year-old has proved all of his doubters wrong and has scored 28 goals in all competitions for Jose Mourinho’s men so far this season.

Ibrahimovic initially signed a one-year deal at Old Trafford and it remains to be seen whether he will extend his stay at the club beyond the summer.

However, Liverpool legend Carragher has been hugely impressed by what he has seen from Ibrahimovic for Manchester United this season.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Carragher said: “There were always questions surrounding Ibrahimovic because he never quite did it against English teams in Europe.

“But he’s now done it at 35, keeping United in contention for the top four, with a trophy already in the bag, and he may win another in the Europa League.”
