Jose Mourinho believes that David De Gea is not being affected by the speculation linking him with a transfer away from Manchester United this summer.

The Spanish goalkeeper has earned a reputation as one of the world’s top shot-stoppers since arriving at Old Trafford from Atletico Madrid back in 2011.

De Gea came within a whisker of signing for Real Madrid back in the summer of 2015 but the deadline-day deal fell through at the last minute.

There has been fresh speculation in recent days linking De Gea with a possible summer move to Real Madrid.

However, Manchester United manager Mourinho doesn’t feel that De Gea is being affected by the apparent uncertainty surrounding his future.

Mourinho told a news conference on Wednesday: “I’m not interested in the speculation. I think if the player is, he shouldn’t be because we are playing very important teams and every match for us is crucial.

“In the Premier League we lose a match and the top-four gets almost impossible, in the Europa League we lose a match and we are in trouble. Every match is one that demands from every one of us total focus.

“I don’t see David having any problem with it at all. The end of the season is the time when players can be thinking what is going to happen with their careers, but I think that’s end of season.”

De Gea will be expecting to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils take on Chelsea in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

Chelsea are currently flying seven points clear at the top of the table and are the heavy favourites to win the title this term.
