Juan Mata has revealed that he is hoping to be back in action for Manchester United next month.

The Spanish playmaker has been out for the last few weeks after suffering a groin injury and requiring surgery to fix the problem.

Mata has watched on from the sidelines as Manchester United booked their place in the Europa League semi-finals with a win over Anderlecht.

Jose Mourinho’s men have also boosted their hopes of finishing in the top four this season by securing back to back Premier League wins over Chelsea and Burnley to leave the Red Devils one point adrift of the Champions League qualification spots.

Mata will be hoping to make his return to action as soon as possible for Manchester United as he bids to help them enjoy a successful end to the season.

And the former Chelsea star has revealed that he is hoping to be back in action as soon as possible.

Mata wrote in his personal blog: “As you can imagine, this month has been a bit too long for me due to my injury.

“I had never been in a situation like this before (I’ve been very lucky), but the truth is I’m feeling much better now and I hope to be back with the team soon, to try to help in the last spell of the season.

“I hope so, because that’s all I want: being always available to help and to contribute as much as I can, both on and off the pitch.

“A million thanks for all your messages wishing me a speedy recovery, I’m getting closer!”

Manchester United travel to Manchester City in the Premier League on Thursday night.
