Gary Neville has warned Manchester United that the closing stages of the season are “absolutely critical”.

The Red Devils are currently chasing a top-four finish in the Premier League and are through to the Europa League semi-finals as they look to end Jose Mourinho’s first season at the club on a high.

Manchester United have won their last two games in the Premier League 2-0 to leave them just a point behind Manchester City heading into Thursday’s crunch derby clash at The Etihad.

And former Red Devils defender Neville has talked up the importance of Manchester United keeping their focus as the crucial stage of the season pans out.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Neville said: “Manchester United are looking confident heading into the final games of the season.

“The big games are to come. Big semi-finals and big games against Manchester City, Arsenal and Spurs.

“They’re going well going into them but the next month is absolutely critical.”

Manchester United have already won the Community Shield and EFL Cup under Mourinho this season as they look to add the Europa League to their trophy cabinet.
