Graeme Souness heaped praise on Marcus Rashford for his sparkling display for Manchester United against Chelsea on Sunday.

The 19-year-old was in superb form for the Red Devils against the Blues and set Jose Mourinho’s men on their way towards victory with a goal in the seventh minute at Old Trafford.

Ander Herrera then added a second shortly after half-time to wrap up all three points for Mourinho’s side and keep their top-four hopes alive.

Rashford was one of Manchester United’s brightest players on Sunday and only just missed out on the man of the match award, which Herrera took home.

However, former Liverpool star Souness was incredibly impressed by what he saw from the teenager and expects him to play a key role in the closing stages of the season.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, Souness said: “I think he [Mourinho] learned something on Sunday. Rashford has made it difficult for him to leave him out. I think he’s a very exciting young talent.

“He gives them legs and I think he could play with Ibrahimovic. I think it would suit both of them, but that’s for the manager to decide.

“United will be very pleased with themselves today and they should be. They’ve needed to take a scalp here to get the supporters believing again.

“The supporters will be going home tonight believing they’ve turned a big corner.”
