Martin Keown opens up about Man United star Paul Pogba
Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has examined Paul Pogba's underwhelming return to Manchester United
Martin Keown has described Paul Pogba as a disappointing Manchester United signing.
The France international moved to Manchester United in an 89m deal from Serie A giants Juventus in the 2016 summer transfer window.
Pogba has made a mixed start to his second spell at Old Trafford after a disappointing return of four goals and three assists in 29 games in the Premier League.
The Manchester United midfielder is sidelined with a hamstring injury as the Red Devils look to kick on and secure a top-four finish this season.
Former Arsenal defender Keown delivered his thoughts on Pogba’s return to the Premier League.
“Pogba has had a disappointing season but it will be interesting to see how United cope without him,” Keown wrote in his Daily Mail column.
“He and Zlatan Ibrahimovic have been the undisputed No 1s in their positions for Jose Mourinho. Beyond those two, the other outfield positions have seemed interchangeable this season.”
Pogba was one of four summer signings at Old Trafford in the 2016 summer transfer window.
Jose Mourinho signed Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic before the Portuguese coach brought in Pogba.
Manchester United will take on La Liga side Celta Vigo in the Europa League semi-final next month.
The Red Devils were 2-0 winners against Premier League leaders Chelsea earlier this month.
