Paul Scholes tells Manchester United to do what they can to keep Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the club
Paul Scholes has urged Manchester United to do what they can to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic to a new deal for another year.
The Swedish striker has been a regular fixture in the Red Devils first team this season and has scored 28 goals in all competitions for Jose Mourinho’s men.
The veteran forward has dispelled any claims that he was not up to the rigours of English football at 35 years of age by being one of Manchester United’s top performers this season.
It remains to be seen how long Ibrahimovic will be out of action for after he was forced off with a knee injury during Manchester United’s Europa League win over Anderlecht on Thursday night.
However, former midfielder Scholes is a keen admirer of Ibrahimovic and feels that the veteran striker still has a big part to play at Manchester United if he stays beyond the summer.
Speaking on BT Sport on Thursday night, Scholes said: “I still think there is a place for him next year.
“He’s had a great year and has scored a lot of goal. If he is going to be here next year, there will be 25-30 games for him and that means 15-20 goals.”
Manchester United take on Burnley in the Premier League on Sunday.
