Matteo Darmian raves about Marcus Rashford after Man United’s win over Chelsea
Matteo Darmian was delighted by Marcus Rashford's performance in Manchester United's 2-0 win over Chelsea
Matteo Darmian has heaped praise on Marcus Rashford for his performance against Chelsea and is backing the Manchester United teenager to develop into one of the world’s top strikers.
The 19-year-old was in fine form for Jose Mourinho’s men at Old Trafford on Sunday as he scored the opener in the seventh minute in his side’s 2-0 win over Chelsea.
Ander Herrera then added a second for the home side shortly after half-time.
Rashford has earned plenty of praise for his performances for Manchester United since breaking onto the scene under Louis van Gaal last season.
And Manchester United defender Darmian is backing Rashford to develop into a top talent for club and country.
Darmian told MUTV: “Marcus is a great player and he’s still very, very young. I think he’s very important for us with his quality. He can be one of the top players, one of the most important players in the world, because he’s very good in every part of the game.
“He has a very good shot, good movement, speed and like a striker sometimes every ball that he touches he scores. Sometimes it’s also normal that they have a period where they don’t score. But I hope he can continue like this, to help the team reach the objectives.”
Both Darmian and Rashford will be expecting to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils return to Europa League action on Thursday night with a home clash against Anderlecht in the return leg of their quarter-final clash.
The two sides drew 1-1 in Belgium in last week’s first leg.
