Rio Ferdinand opens up about Marcus Rashford at Man United
Rio Ferdinand wants Marcus Rashford to be given a chance at Manchester United beyond this season
Rio Ferdinand has urged Jose Mourinho to give Marcus Rashford the chance to shine at Manchester United.
The England striker played the full 90 minutes of the Red Devils’ frustrating 1-1 draw with Everton at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Tuesday night as Manchester United lost further ground in the race for a top-four finish.
Rashford has been in decent form for the Red Devils this season but is yet to really hit the heights of last term, when he burst onto the scene in the second half of the campaign under Louis van Gaal.
The 19-year-old has scored three goals and made one assist in the Premier League so far this season.
There is bound to be plenty of speculation linking Manchester United with a host of attacking players in the summer transfer window.
But Ferdinand would prefer Mourinho to look closer to home and keep his faith in Rashford next season.
Speaking to BT Sport after Manchester United’s draw with Everton on Tuesday, Ferdinand said: “He is still young so he needs help.
“At big clubs, you rotate. You have three or four strikers who can play up there. You don’t put it all on him. But I think he deserves an opportunity.”
