The Red Devils have been in good form under new manager Jose Mourinho in recent weeks following the Portuguese coach’s appointment at Old Trafford last May.
Mourinho has been tasked with steering Manchester United back into the Champions League after the Red Devils ended up in fifth place last season under Louis van Gaal.
Manchester United know that they have two chances of qualifying for Europe’s elite club competition this season – as they chase both a top-four finish and Europa League glory.
Mourinho has already led Manchester United to the Community Shield and EFL Cup this season.
And former Red Devils defender Vidic has been very encouraged by what he has seen from Manchester United so far this season.
Speaking in an interview with Manchester United’s website, Vidic said: “We have a big chance to be in the top three or top four teams and that’s realistic at the moment.
“Before the season, you always think United should compete for the title but to be fair it is not easy.
“Mourinho came this year and brought in four players, but to build a winning team you need time, six months is not enough but I do believe the team is growing.
“He has been in charge of big teams and won trophies in different countries, he knows what he is doing and I am looking forward to the future.”
