Gary Lineker reacts to Man United’s 1-1 draw with Swansea
Gary Lineker was clearly not impressed by Marcus Rashford's theatrics in Manchester United's draw with Swansea City
Gary Lineker has taken to social media to criticise Marcus Rashford after the Manchester United striker went down easily to earn his side a penalty in the first half against Swansea City on Sunday.
The England striker went down under a challenge from Swansea City goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski in the closing stages of the first half to win the Red Devils a penalty, which Wayne Rooney duly converted.
However, replays showed that there was minimal contact and Rashford appeared to go down easily.
And former England star Lineker was clearly not impressed to see Rashford tumble to the ground without much contact at Old Trafford.
Lineker tweeted: “Marcus Rashford clearly making the most of Fabianski throwing himself to the ground. These English players 🙄.”
Gylfi Sigurdsson equalised for Swansea City in the 79th minute when his sublime free-kick earned his side a point.
And Lineker chimed in again on Twitter: “Superb freekick by Sigurdsson. Surely not another home draw for @ManUtd.”
Rashford will be hoping to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils return to Europa League action on Thursday night with their crunch clash against Celta Vigo in the first leg of their semi-final clash.
Manchester United’s draw with Swansea left them facing an uphill struggle to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
