Manchester United should make a summer transfer swoop to sign John Terry from Chelsea, according to Charlie Adam.

The 36-year-old defender’s future has been a source of speculation in recent days after he confirmed earlier this month that he will be leaving Chelsea at the end of the season.

It remains to be seen whether Terry will move abroad or attempt to stay in the Premier League next season.

However, midfielder Adam feels that Jose Mourinho should try and make a move to bring Terry to Old Trafford to bolster his defensive options ahead of next season.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 live, Adam said: “I couldn’t [see Terry in a Manchester United shirt], but if I was a Mourinho I would go and take him.

“I’d say to him ‘listen, come and play for a year’. And why not? He’s a leader, a winner.”

Meanwhile, Terry will be hoping to be involved for Chelsea when the Blues take on Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League.

The veteran defender came on for the final few minutes of Chelsea’s 4-2 win over Southampton at Stamford Bridge last Tuesday night.
