Charlie Nicholas states his prediction for Man United v Anderlecht
Charlie Nicholas is expecting to see Zlatan Ibrahimovic fire Manchester United to victory over Anderlecht on Thursday
Charlie Nicholas is backing Zlatan Ibrahimovic to fire Manchester United into the semi-finals of the Europa League with a 2-0 win over Anderlecht on Thursday night.
The Red Devils head into the second leg of the quarter-final clash at Old Trafford on the back of their 1-1 draw with the Belgian side last week.
Manchester United blew the title race wide open on Sunday afternoon with an impressive 2-0 win over Chelsea at Old Trafford.
Former Arsenal star Nicholas is backing Ibrahimovic to be restored to the starting line-up and is expecting to see the Swede fire the home side to victory.
Nicholas told Sky Sports: “He [Mourinho] seemed like he was at the end of the world with injury problems and not being happy with his strikers, but he gets a big result when they needed it.
“They’ve got a big group and they’re obviously not all players Jose likes, but he got it bang on with his changes on Sunday and he’ll be able to bring a fresh Zlatan Ibrahimovic back in.”
A footnote added: “Charlie predicts: 2-0 and Ibrahimovic to score first.”
Manchester United know that they will book their place in next season’s Champions League regardless of their Premier League finish if they win the Europa League this term.
Jose Mourinho’s men are currently in fifth place in the Premier League table after having already won the EFL Cup this season.
