Guillem Balague sends warning to Man United about Celta Vigo
Guillem Balague warns Manchester United that Celta Vigo will pose a serious threat in the Europa League semi-finals
Guillem Balague has warned Manchester United that Celta Vigo are “more than capable” of knocking the Red Devils out of the Europa League.
Jose Mourinho’s men were pitted against the Spanish side in the Europa League semi-final draw on Friday after Manchester United booked their place in the last four with a 2-1 extra-time win over Anderlecht on Thursday night.
Manchester United will take on Celta Vigo in the first leg of the semi-final tie in Spain on 4 May before the return leg at Old Trafford on 11 May.
The Red Devils are the favourites to progress through to the final of Europe’s second tier club competition at the expense of the Spanish side but Balague has warned that it will not be an easy game for Mourinho’s men.
Balague told Sky Sports: “Think of Bielsa’s Athletic Bilbao and you get close to what Celta is. They man mark all over the pitch, they run more than anybody.
“They have pace up front and goals with Iago Aspas, one every two games, they take risks, they want the ball.
“Their weakness is at the back but there is no perfect team in this Europa League semi-finals, including Manchester United.
“A good friend in the football department at Sky just asked me if Celta have got any chance. What? Really? I hope everybody thinks that way and leave Celta as underdogs. They are more than capable to going to the final.”
Manchester United are currently preparing for their crunch Premier League clash against Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday afternoon.
