Jose Mourinho says he has a “special feeling” that Manchester United can win the Europa League this season as they now turn their attentions to Sunday’s crunch Premier League clash against Chelsea.

The Red Devils are looking to book their place in the semi-finals of the Europa League knowing that if they win the competition, they will guarantee their place in next season’s Champions League.

Manchester United are not guaranteed a top-four finish in the Premier League this season, with Mourinho’s men currently fifth in the table heading into Sunday’s crunch clash.

Mourinho has been forced to place a greater significance on the Europa League this term due to Manchester United’s struggles in the Premier League this season.

However, the Portuguese coach is confident that the Red Devils can go all the way in Europe’s second tier club competition.

“We still have two open doors and my feeling is that we are really going to fight in both competitions,” Mourinho told a news conference on Wednesday.

“Honestly, I have a special feeling with the Europa League; it’s a competition we can win.

“It can give us the same as the top four, which is to play Champions League, but it can give us a title. But we are going to give everything, domestically and in Europe, to reach the Champions League.”
