Paul Pogba opens up about Chelsea’s strengths ahead of Man United clash
The Manchester United midfielder recognises the strengths of his former manager's Chelsea team
Paul Pogba admits Manchester United will have to be at their best to penetrate the Chelsea defence at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils are looking to beat Antonio Conte’s side for the first time this season after losing to Chelsea in the FA Cup and the Premier League this season.
The Blues were 4-0 winners against their former manager Jose Mourinho and his Manchester United squad in the Premier League back in October.
Chelsea edged to a 1-0 victory over the 20-time English champions in the FA Cup quarter-final last month after N’Golo Kante’s second-half winner in west London.
Pogba won two Serie A titles under Conte after the Italian coach placed his faith in the midfielder and signed the French starlet from Manchester United back in 2012.
The versatile midfielder went on to establish himself as one of the most exciting players in Europe and secured a world-record transfer back to Old Trafford last summer.
And Pogba is aware of the strengths of Conte’s Chelsea side ahead of Manchester United’s clash against the Premier League leaders.
“We know that Chelsea, defensively, are very good. The formation they have, they know exactly what to do,” Pogba told Manchester United’s website.
“It was exactly the same at Juventus when [Antonio] Conte was there, you know his training was always the same so the players know what they’re going to do.
“Tactically, he doesn’t want to concede a goal. We haven’t scored a goal yet against Chelsea so, hopefully this weekend, we will score and we have to.”
