Paul Merson states his prediction for Man United v Chelsea
The former Arsenal midfielder is tipping Chelsea to draw 2-2 with Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon
Paul Merson believes Chelsea will drop points in a 1-1 draw with Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
The Blues could start the enthralling top-flight clash only four points ahead of second-placed Tottenham Hotspur if the north London side manage to beat Bournemouth at White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoon.
Chelsea have a great record against Manchester United and Jose Mourinho since Antonio Conte took over the reins at Stamford Bridge outfit at the end of the 2015-16 season.
The west London side were 4-0 winners against Mourinho’s Red Devils side in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge back in October.
Chelsea knocked Manchester United out of the FA Cup in March thanks to a close-fought 1-0 win against 10-man Manchester United following N’Golo Kante’s second-half winner.
Speaking to Sky Sports about the clash between the bitter Premier League rivals at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon, Merson said:
“A big game. I can see Chelsea dropping points considering what happened to Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge earlier this season.
“Some fans had a bit of a go and he will make it difficult for his old club.”
Chelsea are seven points clear of their closest Premier League rivals Tottenham at the top of the table.
