Paul Merson is backing Manchester United to get back to winning ways in the Premier League by beating Everton 3-1 at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.

The Red Devils head into the game looking to get their top four bid back on track after they were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by West Brom at Old Trafford on Saturday.

That left Jose Mourinho’s men in fifth place in the Premier League table as they look to get back into the top four before the season is out.

Everton, meanwhile, are bidding to get back to winning ways themselves after the disappointment of their 3-1 loss to Liverpool in the Merseyside derby at Anfield on Saturday lunchtime.

Former Arsenal midfielder Merson is fully expecting to see Manchester United wrap up all three points in front of their home fans on Tuesday night.

Writing in his column for Sky Sports, Merson said: “A few weeks ago everyone was talking about Everton being on the up, and then they go to Middlesbrough and draw 0-0. Then they get bigged up, go to Tottenham and are poor. Then they get bigged up again, go to Liverpool and are poor.

“They are missing a few players, but I thought it was comfortable for Liverpool.

“Sooner or later Manchester United are going to hit a few past a team. I think if Manchester United don’t win this, all their eggs are in the Europa League basket.”
