Michael Owen states his prediction for Man United v Swansea
The former Manchester United striker is backing Jose Mourinho's side to beat Swansea City on Sunday afternoon
Michael Owen says Manchester United will have too much for Swansea City in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils battled to a goalless draw with Manchester City in the derby on Thursday night despite Marouane Fellaini’s sending off in the closing stages of the Premier League clash at the Etihad Stadium.
Manchester United are in fifth place in the table and a point behind Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side in the race to secure a place in next season’s Champions League competition.
The Red Devils are unbeaten in the Premier League since a 4-0 loss to bitter rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge back in October.
Former Manchester United striker Owen doesn’t expect the 20-time English champions to slip up in their pursuit if a place in Europe’s premier club competition when Swansea City make the trip to the Liberty Stadium at the weekend.
“Swansea have failed to score in their last three away games in the division but they do have a goal threat and I expect to see them score at Old Trafford on Sunday. That said I would be surprised if it were enough against a United side who continue to impress even in the face of injuries to key players,” Owen told BetVictor.
“I am writing this before the Manchester Derby on Thursday so don’t know if United go into the game unbeaten in 24 PL games or looking to put behind a loss to their neighbours. Whatever the result at the Etihad, however, I expect Jose Mourinho’s side to have too much for the Swans.”
Manchester United finished in fifth place in the Premier League last season.
