Martin Keown has played down the chances of Manchester United springing an upset against Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils will host the Premier League leaders as Jose Mourinho looks to derail his former club’s title challenge with seven games to go in the west London side’s season.

Chelsea have managed to bounce back from a surprise 2-1 loss against Crystal Palace with back-to-back victories over Manchester City and Bournemouth.

Antonio Conte’s men have already beaten Manchester United in two competitions in the 2016-17 season to underline their dominance against the Red Devils.

Chelsea were comfortable 4-0 winners against the Red Devils in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge back in October thanks to goals from Gary Cahill, Eden Hazard, Pedro Rodriguez and N’Golo Kante.

The France defensive midfielder netted Chelsea’s winner in a 1-0 win against Manchester United in the FA Cup quarter-final at Stamford Bridge last month.

Speaking to the Daily Mail about the headline act in the Premier League this weekend, former Arsenal defender Keown said:

“If you are a Chelsea player, the message is, ‘If we get something here, we’re champions’.

“Manchester United are capable of doing something special against Chelsea but the fact they will have played 51 games already his season will catch up with them.

“While United have travelled to face Anderlecht this week, Chelsea will have had no distractions ahead of this big match.

“Tottenham will be desperate for Chelsea to slip up but I think the best they can hope for is a draw.”
