Mesut Ozil has told Arsenal that the club must strengthen their squad in the summer transfer window.

The north London side have come in for plenty of criticism in recent weeks following a disappointing run of form for Arsene Wenger’s men.

The Gunners have been knocked out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich and have also dropped out of the top four in the Premier League.

Wenger will be hoping to steer his side back into the Champions League next season before the current campaign is out but the north Londoners have it all to do in the battle for a top-four finish.

There is bound to be plenty of speculation linking Arsenal with a host of players in the summer transfer window.

And Arsenal playmaker Ozil is hoping to see the Gunners bring in some quality reinforcements in the summer.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Ozil said: “I think the club know they need to strengthen. But what’s most important is the manager’s opinion. He and the club will make the decision.

“When you look at our squad, it’s not as broad as Bayern’s or Real Madrid’s. In the Champions League, that’s not enough, especially against big teams, because they have more breadth in their squad.”
