Mark Lawrenson is once again backing Arsenal to struggle in the Premier League this weekend – this time against Middlesbrough on Monday night.

The Gunners head into the game under intense pressure after their dismal 3-0 loss to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park last weekend.

That result left Arsenal sixth in the table and meant that the north London side have now won just two of their last eight Premier League games.

Arsene Wenger is now preparing his side for their crunch trip to the Riverside Stadium on Monday night as the Gunners look to keep their faint hopes of a top-four finish alive.

However, former Liverpool man Lawrenson is tipping the Gunners to be held to a 2-2 draw by Boro on Monday night to heap further pressure on Wenger.

Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Lawrenson said: “Arsenal were all over the place against Crystal Palace last time out, but Middlesbrough will not cause them anywhere near the same sort of problems.

“Palace and Boro are poles apart, and quite a few points apart now too.

“Laurent Koscielny and Petr Cech could be back from injury, which will help the Gunners at the back, but I would expect them to win this game anyway.”
