Michael Owen states his prediction for Middlesbrough v Arsenal
Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen is tipping Arsenal to beat Middlesbrough to nil on Monday night
Michael Owen has backed Arsenal to beat Middlesbrough on Monday night despite their poor form on the road in the Premier League.
The Gunners suffered a humiliating 3-0 loss to Premier League strugglers Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Monday night to leave their top-four bid in tatters.
Arsene Wenger is coming under increasing pressure after the north London side suffered a fourth successive defeat on the road in the Premier League.
Arsenal have lost at Chelsea, West Bromwich Albion, Liverpool and Crystal Palace in their last four away games in the English top flight.
The north London outfit are in sixth place in the Premier League table and seven points adrift of Manchester City in the top-four race.
Writing in his Bet Victor column ahead of Arsenal’s next trip to Middlesbrough on Monday night, Owen backed the Gunners to make a return to winning ways.
“You have to go back to December 1984 for the last time Arsenal lost five successive away league games and they must bounce back after what was an embarrassing defeat at Palace on Monday,” Owen said.
“Boro need to win to have any realistic chance of maintaining their PL status but they continue to struggle in front of goal and I expect a positive reaction from the Gunners after the criticism they so richly deserved at Selhurst Park.”
Arsenal finished in second place in the Premier League table last season.
