Paul Merson has claimed that Liverpool can still be caught in the race for a top-four finish by Arsenal this season.

The Reds were held to a frustrating 2-2 draw by Bournemouth in midweek as Jurgen Klopp looks to try and steer his side to Champions League qualification in his first season in charge at the club.

Arsenal, meanwhile, finally returned to winning ways in the top flight when they beat West Ham United 3-0 at The Emirates to keep their top-four hopes alive.

Manchester City are also facing a battle on their hands to finish in the top four as the race for Champions League qualification hots up.

And former Arsenal star Merson feels that the race for a top-four finish in the Premier League is far from over.

Writing in his column for The Daily Star, Merson said: “City have a nice run-in but Arsenal could still catch them. If Liverpool don’t sort themselves out defensively I still think they can be caught, too.

“Tottenham have kept the title race alive with those late goals at Swansea. You could see from the way they celebrated that they still believe they have a chance.”
