Phil Neville praised Chelsea for getting through an uncomfortable 90 minutes after a 2-1 win against Manchester City on Wednesday night.

Chelsea were looking to make an immediate return to winning ways on Wednesday night after a surprise 2-1 loss to Premier League relegation candidates Crystal Palace at the weekend.

And the Premier League leaders made the breakthrough in the eighth minute thanks to Eden Hazard’s deflected strike to take his tally to 12 goals in the 2016-17 campaign.

However, Thibaut Courtois’s rare error led to Manchester City’s equaliser after David Silva tested the Chelsea goalkeeper before Sergio Aguero pounced on the rebound.

Chelsea were back in front before half-time, though, after Fernandinho conceded a penalty and Hazard scored from the penalty spot at the second time of asking at Stamford Bridge.

Former Manchester United defender Neville praised Chelsea for getting through an uncomfortable 90 minutes at Stamford Bridge.

“Chelsea have answered every question that has been thrown at them this season,” Neville told BBC Sport.

“It hasn’t been comfortable – there has been tension around the stadium tonight.”

Chelsea are seven points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
