Pundit suggests Man United could sign top striker this summer
Stuart Pearce believes that Manchester United could be set to sign Romelu Lukaku this summer
Stuart Pearce has suggested that Manchester United could be set to splash the cash on bringing Romelu Lukaku to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils have been widely criticised for their lack of a clinical edge in front of goal this season under new boss Jose Mourinho.
Manchester United have often had to rely on veteran forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic up front this term, with the striker having netted 27 goals in all competitions so far this season.
It has been suggested that Everton striker Lukaku could be a target for Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
And former Manchester City boss Pearce feels that Mourinho would have no problem in putting down the money to bring Lukaku to Old Trafford this summer.
Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ last week, Pearce said: “If he felt like Lukaku was the missing piece of the jigsaw and he can take them forward, and Lukaku is the type Mourinho is looking for, I don’t think Mourinho would have any problem putting money down for Lukaku.”
Manchester United are currently gearing up for their crunch Premier League clash against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Sunday as they look to get their top-four bid back on track.
