Rio Ferdinand: This confident Chelsea player can get Antonio Conte’s side over the line
The former Manchester United defender is confident that Eden Hazard can fire Chelsea to the title
Rio Ferdinand is confident that Eden Hazard’s confident performances can help Chelsea get over the line in the Premier League title race.
The Blues suffered a setback in the Premier League last weekend following Crystal Palace were 2-1 winners against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Hazard was part of the Chelsea side that won the title in the 2014-15 season after the Belgian forward scored 14 times in 38 games in the campaign.
And the former Lille winger stepped up to score two goals in a 2-1 win against top-four rivals Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
Hazard has now scored 13 times and has also made five assists in 28 games in the Premier League under Antonio Conte.
Speaking to BT Sport about Hazard’s form in the context of the title race, former Manchester United defender Ferdinand said:
“They’ve got a player in Eden Hazard who looks like he’s the oldest kid in the playground at the moment – it looks that easy for him.
“He’s a fantastic footballer in fine form and somebody who looks like he has the confidence to carry them over the line if they have a little bit of a slump.”
Chelsea are seven points clear of their closest Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the title race with eight games to go.
The Blues will make the trip to Bournemouth this weekend.
