Steven Gerrard has warned Chelsea that there could still be some twists and turns in the title race despite their 2-1 win against Manchester City on Wednesday night.

Questions were asked of Antonio Conte’s players ahead of the visit of Manchester City after Chelsea suffered a surprise 2-1 loss to Premier League strugglers Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge at the weekend.

Tottenham moved to within seven points of the Premier League leaders but Chelsea didn’t falter against Pep Guardiola’s side despite an open game between the two cash-rich Premier League clubs.

Chelsea made the breakthrough in the first half thanks to Eden Hazard’s deflected strike before Sergio Aguero capitalised on Thibaut Courtois’s mistake to restore parity in west London.

Hazard, though, restored Chelsea’s lead thanks to his tap-in after the Belgium international’s initial penalty kick was saved.

Tottenham can move to within four points of Chelsea when Spurs host Watford in the early kick-off on Saturday before the leaders travel to Bournemouth in Saturday’s evening game.

Speaking to BT Sport, Gerrard refused to accept that Chelsea have one hand on the Premier League trophy.

“It’s a massive three points and Chelsea are back on track,” Gerrard said.

“I think it’s a bit early to say one hand on the trophy because there are still a lot of points to play for. But I think Chelsea will go on and win it now. They’ve just got to avoid the little slip-ups.”
