Michael Owen is backing Manchester United to get back to winning ways in the Premier League by beating Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Sunday.

The Red Devils head into the game looking to get their top-four bid back on track after the disappointment of their 1-1 draw with Everton at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.

That result left Jose Mourinho’s men in sixth place in the Premier League table as they bid to try and finish in the top four in the Portuguese coach’s first season in charge at the club.

And former Liverpool striker Owen is fully expecting to see Manchester United claim all three points against the Premier League’s basement club on Sunday.

Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “Back-to-back home draws have all but ended United’s chance of Champions League qualification via the Premier League.

“As a result you wonder if Jose Mourinho will shuffle his pack at the Stadium Of Light with the trip to Anderlecht in the Europa League next Thursday becoming increasingly important.

“That said, United are unbeaten in their last 20 Premier League games and are likely to inflict further misery on a Sunderland side coached by their former manager David Moyes.”

Manchester United, who have already won the EFL Cup this season, will then turn their attentions towards the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final clash with Anderlecht on Thursday night.
