Theo Walcott has admitted that he felt the Crystal Palace players wanted three points more than Arsenal after Monday night’s 3-0 loss at Selhurst Park.

The Gunners ended a run of three games without a win on Wednesday night thanks to a 3-0 victory over West Ham United courtesy of goals from Mesut Ozil, Olivier Giroud and Walcott.

Arsenal moved back to within four points of fourth-placed Manchester City thanks to their 3-0 win against the Hammers as Arsene Wenger’s players looked to secure a Champions League spot.

However, the north London side slipped back to seven points adrift of Pep Guardiola’s men after Crystal Palace were 3-0 winners against Arsenal in the Premier League on Monday night.

Wenger’s side have now failed to win four of their last five games in the Premier League to leave their chances of reaching the Champions League in doubt.

And Walcott made the startling admission that he knew that the Palace players wanted to win more than his Arsenal team-mates ahead of kick-off at Selhurst Park.

“They wanted it more. You could sense that from the kick-off,” Walcott told Sky Sports.
