Gary Lineker takes to social media to celebrate Tottenham's 2-0 win over Arsenal in the Premier League
Gary Lineker took to social media to celebrate Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Spurs dominated the first half but were unable to make the breakthrough as it ended up goalless at half-time.
However, Tottenham took the lead in the 55th minute when Dele Alli fired home from inside the box.
And Spurs doubled their advantage moments later when Harry Kane converted his penalty after the striker was brought down by Gabriel Paulista in the box.
Former Tottenham man Lineker was clearly pleased with what he was seeing as he wrote on Twitter: “Well that escalated quickly. Dele and Kane strike yet again. Spurs are the new Arsenal.”
The result ensures that Tottenham will finish above Arsenal for the first time in 22 years and dealt a severe blow to the Gunners’ hopes of securing Champions League qualification for next season.
However, Tottenham were left celebrating as they kept their title hopes alive, with Mauricio Pochettino’s men now four points behind Chelsea with four games left to play.
