Michael Owen states his prediction for Tottenham v Watford
Michael Owen looks ahead to Tottenham's Premier League clash against Watford on Saturday lunchtime
Michael Owen is backing Tottenham to keep the pressure on Chelsea at the top of the Premier League table by beating Watford on Saturday lunchtime.
The Lilywhites head into the game fresh from their dramatic comeback win over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium in midweek.
That result left Spurs second in the table and seven points behind leaders Chelsea as the race for the Premier League title hots up.
The north London side have the chance to close the gap to Chelsea down to just four points with victory against Watford before the Blues travel to Bournemouth on Saturday evening.
And former Liverpool striker Owen is backing Spurs to take all three points against the Hornets on Saturday lunchtime.
Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “Watford have never beaten Spurs in the Premier League and I don’t expect them to buck that trend in the early kick off on Saturday.
“Deli Alli scored twice in the reverse fixture at Vicarage Road in January and he has been outstanding in recent weeks and it was no surprise to see him change the game at the Liberty Stadium midweek.
“Spurs are unbeaten at White Hart Lane this term. Chelsea in 2013-14 were the last of 13 previous teams to have gone a whole Premier League season unbeaten at home – I don’t expect the Hornets to break Spurs’ proud home record.”
Tottenham are looking to build on their third-placed finish in the Premier League last season as they look to qualify for the Champions League for the second campaign running under Mauricio Pochettino.
