Paul Merson is backing Tottenham Hotspur to ease to a 3-0 win against Watford at White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoon.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have the chance to heap pressure on Premier League leaders Chelsea in the title race as Spurs host their derby rivals Watford in the early kick-off in north London.

Tottenham mounted an incredible comeback in south Wales on Wednesday night thanks to late goals from Dele Alli, Son Heung-min and Christian Eriksen to overturn Wayne Routledge’s opener in the first half.

Watford, on the other hand, eased to a 2-0 win against West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday night to extend their winning run to two Premier League games and help ease pressure on Walter Mazzarri.

Speaking to Sky Sports about Tottenham’s clash against Watford on Saturday afternoon, former Arsenal midfielder Merson is backing a comfortable home win at White Hart Lane.

“Tottenham had a great result at Swansea after being 1-0 down so late on,” Merson said.

“They can close the gap on Chelsea in the next couple of weeks and can put the pressure on again with a win on Saturday afternoon.

“Watford got a great win in midweek over West Brom, but this should be comfortable for Tottenham.”
