Mark Lawrenson is backing Liverpool to get their top-four bid back on track by beating Watford in Monday night’s Premier League clash at Vicarage Road.

The Reds head into the game looking to bounce back from the disappointment of their 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace at Anfield last weekend as their hopes of Champions League qualification took a blow.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side are still in third place in the Premier League table heading into this weekend’s round of games.

Monday night’s clash could end up proving crucial in the race for Champions League qualification as Klopp looks to steer his side back into the top four in his first full season in charge at Anfield.

And former Liverpool man Lawrenson is expecting to see the Merseyside outfit take all three points by snatching a narrow 2-1 win over Watford on Monday night.

Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Lawrenson said: “Liverpool got battered 3-0 when they went to Vicarage Road last season, after conceding two goals in the first 15 minutes.

“I just don’t see that happening on Monday, especially if Watford play like they did when they lost 2-0 at 10-man Hull last time out.

“The Hornets are back at home, but this still looks like a winnable fixture for Liverpool – although I thought the same about their last game against Crystal Palace.”
