Michael Owen is backing Liverpool to win at Watford despite tipping Jurgen Klopp’s side to concede at Vicarage Road on Monday night.

The Reds suffered a surprise 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace at Anfield last weekend after Christian Benteke scored either side of half-time to cancel out Philippe Coutinho’s brilliant free-kick.

Liverpool had appeared to cement their top-four bid after resilient victories at Stoke City and West Brom to make Klopp’s men favourites to finish in the top four ahead of Arsenal and Manchester United before their Palace setback.

The 18-time English champions are still in third place and a point ahead of Manchester City, while Manchester United are two points adrift of Liverpool in the race to secure a place in next season’s Champions League competition.

“The Hornets won the corresponding game 3-0 last season but they shipped six at Anfield earlier in the season and I would be surprised if we didn’t see a number of goals at Vicarage Road on Monday – with the Reds just shading it,” Owen told BetVictor.

The Reds signed seven players in the summer transfer window last term.
